Welcome Back, Dancers!
Hello Dance Friends,
As any new season starts, there's always so much excitement for the new year and all it has to offer. We've enhanced our lobby area to be more inviting with easier access to the office. We do hope you enjoy this new addition! We also have new staff
coming on board, with some familiar faces you may recognize because they are FDF alums.
Emily Contino is a 2010 graduate from Fairport High School and just finished
up from Michigan State…GO GREEN! Emily is also a special education teacher and
starting her first year at Allen Creek School.
Probably the most familiar face, Kathryn Miller is a 2016 graduate and is going to continue dancing with us, but this time as a teacher! We're so excited to keep Kathryn's smiling face at the studio.
Also new to the studio are ballet teachers Tonia Finke and Jason Stotz. Welcome to our FDF family!
You can read more about these new faces on our website. We're still updating, so check back often if a new teacher isn't there yet.
New Parent Portal
As more information becomes available, we'll be notifying you about our new
online payment system, that for a small-yearly fee, you can access a parent
portal where you'll be able to view and pay online to your account, and also be able to sign up for text message alerts, which is great for studio closings due to weather and such.
CLI Studio Classes Another online feature we'll be offering is CLI Studio classes, a company that is based on the theory of giving dancers/students the opportunity to work with professional teachers, performers, and choreographers that are in high demand, all from your home computer, or smart phone. This is a monthly charge to become a member and if the studio hits a certain enrollment mark, they'll also offer free, live web cam classes.
Both of these features that we're now offering are new to us this year, and in some cases, we'll be learning right along with you. The studio gains no financial reimbursements for these features, but we hope that it will be beneficial for all that choose to participate.
We're also offering several types of mini sessions that will start mid-October for
our recreational dancers or for dancers who only want to make a short commitment,
but still be involved with dance. Part of our mini session series include the “Boyz Zone”
which will offer a boys-only class for either (or both) hip hop and tap. We're super
excited to offer this type of class for boys who may just feel more comfortable
dancing in a boys-only class.
New this year are the “sampler classes,” geared for kids who may want to try dance but not ready or sure about a full commitment. These classes are free and are for those dancers with little to no experience. Please pass the word on to any friends you think would like the opportunity to try our studio!
Adult Classes Everyone's been asking, and we've answered. Adult ballet and tap with Zach will start in mid-October and run through May. These classes will be on a drop-in basis with a punch card, so you may come and go as your schedule allows it.
Jason, our newest faculty member, will be adding yoga and Pilates too! All of this can be found on our website (Jason’s classes soon to be added). Please take a moment to look it over and share to anyone who might be interested.
The New Dance Year
As I said earlier, starting a new year is exciting and fun for not only the students, but
us faculty too. I'm thrilled to say that we are, as of now, over 30% new enrollment
for this coming year, and look forward to making new friends! Some of our new
students/families are those who are joining us from a local studio that has
discontinued some of their classes. Because of this unexpected event, we
welcome these dancers to have a new home with us at FDF. You may find a few
classes in the beginning of the year a little larger than normal, but once we see and
evaluate some of these dancers, class sizes will change. To accommodate for some of
these classes, we've hired extra staff to come in and help out these first couple of
weeks. Please extend a FDF embrace to our new friends and allow them to feel
comfortable with their new and unexpected changes!
As always I am forever grateful for the continued support by our past students and
families. Your loyalty means so much to me and my staff.
From all of us here at FDF, we're looking forward to another great season, and
before we know it, the June recital will be here and we'll wonder where the time
